Bill will bring several live raptors including hawk(s), falcon(s), owl(s), and an eagle so all in attendance will experience “Close Encounters with Birds of Prey”.
PORT JERVIS - The HUB (the Public Computer Center of the Port Jervis Library) is pleased to announce “Close Encounters with Birds of Prey” presented by Bill Streeter of the Delaware Valley Raptor Center. The program will be held Thursday June 13 at 6:30 in the Community Room of the Library, 138 Pike Street, Port Jervis.
Bill will bring several live raptors including hawk(s), falcon(s), owl(s), and an eagle so all in attendance will experience “Close Encounters with Birds of Prey”.
The presentation will cover predator/prey relationships, wildlife rehabilitation, specific adaptations of the birds present, and various issues facing wildlife today. Attendees will also gain an understanding of the ecological importance of predator/prey relationships.
Bill explains, “Most of the birds treated at the center are returned to the wild.
However, due to the severity of their injuries, some birds are unable to survive in the wild and must remain in captivity. These birds become an important element in Delaware Valley Raptor Center's educational programs”.
Attendees will leave the program with a greater respect and appreciation for the birds and a more responsible attitude towards all wildlife.
There is no charge for the program, but the Community Room has limited seating, so registration is required. Seating will be reserved on a first come, first served basis. Reservations may be made by calling The Hub at (845)856-7313 ext. 5, by an email to thehub@portjervislibrary.org, or by registering in person.
