Far Beyond Gone performs.
It was an early Sunday morning as crowds gathered around to celebrate the annual Bagel Festival in Monticello. Going into its fifth year, the festivities started at around 9 a.m. with the opening ceremonies by Alan Kesten.
Musical performances continued to take center stage throughout the day, starting with the band Far Beyond Gone, followed by Somerville, the Forestburgh Playhouse, and finishing with Shades.
Also, vendors sold sweets and treats, decorative items and accessories, gifts for the family and souvenirs to commemorate the Bagel Festival and the upcoming Woodstock anniversary.
Along the festival route was a car show hosted by the Any Make Any Model Car Club, a children's activity area sponsored by the Restoration Church and a scavenger hunt to find the hidden bagels.
By the afternoon, the Bagel Triathlon took place where groups gathered to watch people compete for prizes and gift certificates. Those who chose to compete were tasked with a bagel stacking competition followed by a bagel toss and finished with a bagel roll. Bagels were stacked high, tossed through the air and rolled down the street in a humorous, yet difficult challenge. The winner of the women's division was Maria Mann and Santos Rodriguez was the winner of the male division.
The Bagel festival ended with a trophy presentation for the car show and awards for the scavenger hunt.
