Face painting was one of the carnival-themed activities during the end of summer celebration at the Delaware Youth Center on Friday.
CALLICOON -- The summer program at the Delaware Youth Center ended with a carnival, art show and potluck with all the kids who participated and their families. The summer program was six weeks long and included many activities such as workshops in cooking, pottery, stilt walking, African drumming and dance, martial arts and Zumba.
Summer Program Coordinator Christina Mace, who is on the Delaware Youth Center Board of Directors, said the summer program is open to all ages, and children who live in the Town of Delaware or families who have a membership to the Youth Center are given free admission. Mace said she encourages participants from all towns to sign up for next summer's program.
In addition to activities and workshops, the summer program also has a sports and recreation component. Every day the kids play sports and every Friday Sullivan West Boys Track and Field and Football Coach Ron Bauer volunteers his time and teaches the kids track and field.

The Delaware Youth Center is always looking for volunteers. To contact them, you can call 845-887-5155 or email
