Town of Delaware to celebrate Sesquicentennial on Saturday

CALLICOON - With a beautiful summer weather forecast predicted for this weekend, Sullivan County will be ripe with great events for visitors and residents to attend.
In the Town of Delaware, the Annual Callicoon Country Fair will be held on Saturday, July 27 from 10:30 - 5 p.m. and this year will feature historic talks, walks and exhibits centered around the town's 150th Anniversary.
• Sullivan County Historian John Conway will touch things off with an historic overview of Sullivan County's youngest township at 10:30 a.m.
at the Callicoon Theater.
• That will be followed by an historic slideshow until 1 p.m., compliments of Callicoon Theater owner Kristina Smith and Delaware Town Historian Cindy Herbert.
• Historic Walking tours - filled with lively lore about the town, will start at 11:30 outside the theater, with Callicoon Walking Tours leading the way. A free beer tasting at The Callicoon Brewery will follow the walking tours.
• From 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. there will be live musical performances at the Train Depot stage featuring local bands Joshua Tree, Poison Love, Keith Newman, Kali Sea­strand, Don “Banjo” Smith and Janturan.
• In the Callicoon Creek Park a series of children's activities and carnival games will be happening throughout the afternoon. Proceeds will benefit the Delaware Youth Center.
• From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Upper and Lower Main Street will be filled with more than 36 vendors and dozens of local stores selling their wares. Visitors can enjoy shopping, food, drinks and merriment throughout the day!
• At 5 p.m. a raffle will be held at the Train Depot to benefit the Callicoon Business Association.
Prizes include a pair of Kayaks, a free private rental at the Callicoon movie theater, a day of golf at Villa Roma (with free cart rental), a Landers' River Trip for four, and many other wonderful prizes which have been kindly donated by our local businesses.
Tickets are only $5 and you do not need to be present at the time of the drawing to take home a prize!
The Sullivan County Democrat's Town of Delaware 150th Anniversary Keepsake edition will also be available throughout the town and documents the many hamlets of the town, including Callicoon, Hortonville, Kenoza Lake, Beechwoods and Kohlertown.
