The Professional Photographer's Society of New York (PPSNY) returned for a third time since 2016 for their FocusNY convention at the Villa Roma the weekend of March 2. The Villa has become a preferred convention center for the PPSNY's annual event due to its central location for many of the members.
The event started on Saturday with a photography competition followed by critiques by the judges to help the artists learn. There were plenty of educational opportunities with various business, posing, and lighting workshops and lectures throughout the three-day event.
The weekend wasn't all serious; there was an old movie themed costume party on Saturday night. The convention closed out on Monday night with the Gala Banquet and the Image Competition Awards.

Though PPSNY members were able to attend for free, FocusNY isn't exclusive to just its members and welcomes others to attend with a weekend or day pass.
Entry is free for those who arrived with a current student identification card, an offer that fosters the growth of the budding photographer. PPSNY has been around since 1905 with the Hudson Valley being the local chapter.
