Hot Air Balloon Fest coming to Jeff

By Autumn Schanil - staff writer

This hot air balloon seen above Jeffersonville a few weeks ago was most likely a test-run for the upcoming Hot Air Balloon Festival.
JEFFERSONVILLE — Your feet get wet while walking through the morning dew that clings to blades of grass. The fog lifts just enough to see the beautiful colors laid out through the field and every now and then, the sound of flame and exhaust whispers into the air.
Wicker baskets, or gondolas, are attached to checkered and striped fabrics. Kids and adults wait in anticipation.
If you've never had the chance to experience a Hot Air Balloon Festival before, your time is now!
The Jeffersonville Enhances More of Sullivan, Inc. (JEMS) is getting ready to launch its very first Hot Air Balloon Festival on Saturday, October 1st and Sunday morning, October 2nd.

The Festival will take place behind Dick's Auto Sales on Route 52 rain or shine. The balloon launches will take place wind and weather permitting of course.
There will be two hot air balloon launches on Saturday. Early morning between 7 and 8:30 a.m. and later in the evening from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
Following the evening launch, a “Moon Glow” will take place, which is a night time display of tethered hot air balloons lit from the inside, making the balloons look like a large lit candle glowing in the sky.
In between launches on Saturday, there will be craft vendors and artists selling hand and homemade products, face and body art will be done by KiDooodles, a variety of food vendors will be cooking up delicious meals alongside a BBQ and the Jeffersonville Fire Department's cookout.
The Catskill Region Antique Automobile Club of America (CRAACA) will have vehicles on display. You can accompany Dairy Princess Rianne Erlwein on a hayride, get your groove on to DJs from Mystic Entertainment, take a helicopter ride with Independent Helicopters, LLC between noon and 4 p.m., or talk to the hot air balloon pilots to learn interesting facts and stories about the balloons.
The festival will come to an end Sunday morning with a final balloon launch between 7 and 8:30 a.m.
Don't miss out on this unique experience!
