HURLEYVILLE - The Sullivan County Dramatic Workshop is happy to present “Auntie Scrooge - A Backwards Christmas Carol” by Tony Palermo as a 1940's Radio Show directed by Harold Tighe. This is a comical Christmas Carol—in reverse! It is a radio-on-stage show, similar to Charles Dickens' ‘A Christmas Carol', but a bizarre inversion of the tale of Scrooge's journey from miser to nice guy.
This is a story that turns Dickens “Carol” on its head, but winds up affirming the very things that the original does. The cast includes a wonderful mix of new and familiar faces and includes past radio-show actors Jim Schmidt, Paul Puerschner, Kris Rosengrant, and Alan Charney. They are joined by veteran SCDW stage actors Carol MacAdam and Lourdesa Hunt performing in their first radio play.
Tim Reid, a former real radio personality is stepping into the unreal world of radio plays.
SCDW while backstage stalwart, Allison Weiner, steps into the light in her first radio play along with newcomer Jimmy Harrington making his theatrical debut in “Auntie Scrooge.”
For the youth holiday production, the Sullivan County Dramatic Workshop will present “Santa's Cookie Problem” by Lori Soard directed by Sally Gladden and Bunny Woloszczak.
“Santa's Cookie Problem” is an adorable look at Santa and how he has pulled his suit out of storage to get it cleaned and ready for Christmas Eve. There's just one problem: Santa has a cookie problem. The problem is that he loves cookies and now he doesn't fit in his suit. The cast includes youth actors D'Nai Rosa, Blaze Nolan, Levon Shepherd, Rosalind Shepherd, Makenzie Rainey, Treyvon Hayden, Seriya Jorge, D'mani Rosa, Dymond Rosa, Jonathan Moore, Victoria Henry and Nicky Ciorciari.
Both shows are live - on-stage - at the Sullivan County Museum, 265 Main Street, Hurleyville, on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 6 and 7, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 8 at 1 p.m. General Admission is $10 and includes both shows, coffee and dessert. Tickets can be purchased in advance on-line at
