LAKE HUNTINGTON — A fireman directing traffic at the Sullivan West High School graduation was hit by a car on Saturday.

The accident was investigated by Sheriff's Deputy Jack Harb who had been attending the graduation.

According to the Sullivan County Sheriff's Department, the Lake Huntington fireman, Joe Costa, was directing traffic when Smallwood resident Septemberr Rielly, an attendee of the ceremony who had forgotten her ticket, came back down the school's driveway and hit Costa.

“He had pain in his back, legs and arm,” Sullivan County Undersheriff Eric Chaboty said.

Costa was treated at and released from the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris.

Rielly was ticketed for failure to comply and speed not reasonable and prudent.
