New Bloomingburg trustee queried about name

BLOOMINGBURG — Soon after newly-elected Bloomingburg Trustee Aaron T. Rabiner took the oath of office, he dealt with an unusual question from an attendee at the board's reorganizational meeting.

In March's elections, Rabiner defeated incumbent Katherine Roemer by a 98-81 tally. Rabiner's election came on the heels of accusations of voter fraud.

During the public comment portion of the meeting, Rabiner was asked about the spelling of his name

“I've seen it spelled a number of different ways. What is the correct spelling of your name?” a resident asked (later identified by other media to be Gregory Ercolino).

“I don't know,” Rabiner said in a hushed tone.

“You don't know how to spell your own name?” the enquirer wondered. “You live in Monroe, don't you?”

“I don't know,” answered Rabiner.

“You're in a lot of trouble, boy,” rejoined Rabiner's questioner.

Rabiner did not address allegations he used a Monroe address for his personal residence for a state corporation filing last year. Rabiner works in Monroe, according to media reports.

The county Board of Elections determined, however, that Rabiner has a residence in Bloomingburg, where he's lived for more than a year.
