Artful weekend in Sullivan County

As the holiday season draws near, art lovers were treated to an art-filled weekend across the county.

In Wurtsboro, the Wurtsboro Art Alliance (WAA) held their annual Holiday Gift Show which runs from now until December 16.

The Alliance members transformed the art gallery into a winter wonderland and had tables filled with unique and art-minded gifts that included ceramic pieces, photography, paintings, and illustrations.

The John Neilson Gallery, Wurtsboro Art Alliance, is located at 73 Sullivan Street, in Wurtsboro and are open for the shopping season Saturday and Sunday, noon to 4 p.m.

Art in Sixes

For 14 years the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance (DVAA) have hosted “Art in Sixes” -- a small works exhibition that features local and regional artists.

On Saturday, hundreds of artists and guests filled the gallery to see this annual event, and according to Gallery Director Rocky Pinciotti, the show provides something for everyone, whether you're an art connoisseur, a browser, a collector, or someone in need of that perfect gift.

“I think more people on the east coast should know about this town, this show, and organization,” said Pinciotti.

The exhibition, which runs until December 23, is made up of established and beginner artists who submitted artwork no bigger than six inches in any direction and with prices that range from $45 to $800, and this year there are 629 pieces by 207 artists.

The gallery is located at 37 Main Street Narrowsburg and opens from Tuesday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
