MONTICELLO — At 3:41 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29, Monticello firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire at the Pine Tree Bungalow Colony on Route 42 South in the Town of Thompson.

Engine 22-11 arrived on scene reporting a working structure fire and requested a second alarm. The structure, which was at the rear of the colony, was heavily involved on arrival. The bungalow, a two-family unit, was severely damaged. Monticello was assisted by Rock Hill and Forestburgh Fire Depts. and MobileMedic EMS. All units were back in service by 7:15 a.m. There were no injuries.

The fire was investigated by the Monticello Fire Department, Sullivan County Sheriff's Office and Sullivan County Fire Investigators. The cause of the fire is believed to be a faulty hot water heater.

Firefighters again remind all seasonal residents to properly inspect all appliances, including hot water heaters and smoke detectors.

For additional information call the MFD at 794-6330.
