HUDSON - On Saturday, January 20 at 1 p.m., Women's March 2018 will be held on 7th Street Park in Hudson.

At the park they will start with speeches and live music. Then women in Handmaid costumes and musicians will lead the March down Warren Street to Basilica Hudson on the waterfront, where the marchers will refresh with warm drinks and food and enjoy speakers, performance art and more live music.

At Basilica, voters will be registered in support of the national Women's March Alliance project to register 1 million women by the 2018 elections. The focus is women, but men are encouraged to register too.

Speakers at the march include:

• Didi Barrett, State Assemblywoman, 106th District

• Jabin Ahmed Ruhii, Muslim Youth Coordinator

• Kathy Leck Eldridge, newly elected Greenport Town Supervisor

• Dr. Cricket Coleman, newly elected Columbia County Coroner

• Tiffany Garriga, Hudson Second Ward Alderwoman and Majority Leader

• Erin Stamper, Democratic Campaign Organizer

• Joyce St. George, Activist, Organizer

• Sarah Sterling, Columbia County Supervisor, Hudson First Ward

• Elena Mosley

“It is so important that WE MARCH WHERE WE LIVE. NY-19 is an important swing district that will be key to flipping the House in November 2018. The national spotlight is on us. The contest for our district will be as prominent and pivotal as the recent senatorial election in Alabama. A strong turnout for the Women's March here will be a clear message that the people in NY-19 want an authentic representative, NOT one that is beholden to big donors. We will make a sound so loud that John Faso will hear us all the way in his home in Kinderhook - or wherever he is hiding that day.” - Gianni Ortiz, Indivisible CD 19 NY

Women's Rights Are Human Rights and Human Rights Are Women's Rights. The future of our country depends on equal rights for women and equal power to women.
