SUNY Sullivan holds virtual graduation

LOCH SHELDRAKE — On Saturday, June 20, SUNY Sullivan held its 56th Commencement ceremony. For the first time in the college's history, the ceremony was held virtually. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the college was unable to host the ceremony in person like they have done in year's past at the Paul Gerry Fieldhouse. Speeches, well wishes, and the reading of graduates' names were all pre-filmed and debuted on Facebook over the weekend. SUNY Sullivan President Jay Quatiance said to the graduates, “You've had to adapt, find new ways to stay connected with friends, and finish your degree while your time on campus was cut short. Your presence here will always be felt.” Look for full coverage of the graduation in an upcoming edition of the Sullivan County Democrat.
