SULLIVAN — County-wide village elections were held on Tuesday, and while some races were uncontested, others ousted incumbents. These are the unofficial results from the Sullivan County Board of Elections.

In the Village of Liberty, the Democrats had a successful run. Incumbent Democrat Ronald Stabak beat Republican challenger Richard Winters in the Mayoral race with 193 votes to 91.

“There were so many people who helped me and I want to thank all of them who put in time for this campaign,” said Stabak. “We didn't think this would be an easy win.”

He commended Winters on running the race and said he hopes to see more people in Liberty step up to the plate and take a greater role in the village.

“There are a lot of people who have faith in this community,” Stabak said. “There's a lot going on and people are going to see some changes coming to Main Street real soon ... Our day is coming.”

Four candidates were vying for a Trustee seat in the Village of Liberty, including incumbent Republican Corinne McGuire. Two spots were open and they were won by Democrats Victoria Ferguson (160 votes) and Joan Stoddard (153) beating McGuire (97) and Republican Troy Johnstone (137).

In the Village of Monticello incumbent Republican Gary Sommers ran uncontested and received 129 votes. Republican Charles Sabatino beat Democrat David Komatz for Village Trustee, with 139 to 70 votes.

Other uncontested races include Village of Bloomingburg Trustee Aaron Rabiner and Village of Wurtsboro Mayor James Thompson, and in the Village of Jeffersonville Mayor William Thony, and Village Trustees Kathleen Herbert and Brian Barlow.

In the Village of Wurtsboro Charles Corrigan beat incumbent Frank Sisco with 76 to 45 votes.
