IDA extends sales tax abatements

MONTICELLO — Sales tax abatements was once again the agenda at the recent County of Sullivan Industrial Development Agency (IDA) most recent meeting.

The IDA board decided unanimously to extend sales tax abatements for the Adelaar Developer, LLC which is building the new water park near the casino called Kartrite Hotel and Indoor Waterpark.

The abatement will start on April 1 and go through September 30. It will help with the continuation of construction, installing and equipment the water park project.

The water park will be located on Chalet Road in Thompson and is set to open its water slides in 2019. The park will host a 425,000 square-foot indoor water park resort which will include a hotel that will soar to seven stories and will tote a ballroom and conference center.

Additionally, the IDA extended sales tax abatements for the Veria Lifestyle, LLC which plans to open a health and wellness spa in the late spring.

After hosting recent job fairs for employees looking to hire up to 250 people, the IDA voted to extend sales tax abatements on the Veria Lifestyle, LLC.

The abatement will help with acquisition of equipment to further along the construction of the spa.

Located near Bailey Lake in Thompson, the spa will feature a state-of-the-art yoga room that can hold up to 100 people along with jacuzzi, pool and hot tubs.

The sales tax abatement will extend from April 1 to September 30 and will help continuation of the construction, installation and equipping of the spa and was passed unanimously.

The spa will also feature a 18-hole championship golf course, museum celebrating natural wellness, nature cure and an indoor museum.

The IDA board also extended sales tax abatement for the for the Delaware I, LLC project which is building a solar array in the Town of Delaware.

The abatement will be in effect from March 1 to September 30 but is subject to Delaware I, LLC filing the proper paperwork to the state by March 15 and to the IDA soon thereafter.

The sales tax abatement will be used to continued construction for the two megawatt solar array that will be interconnected to the New York State Electric and Gas (NYSEG). The solar facility is currently built on 200 acres located on Lahm Road in the Town of Delaware and with construction will include racking materials to mount the solar panels, inverters and transformers.

Equally important, the IDA also approved to fund the Sullivan County Partnership for Economic Development for its first quarter of 2018 in the amount of $18,500.00
