MONTICELLO — The Village of Monticello held a public hearing on Tuesday regarding a 58-bed assisted living facility proposed for Broadway.

Developer Tommy Ting and his lawyer Jay Zeiger, along with Ting's engineer John Fuller, presented their plans to the Village planning board.

The original plans submitted to the board called for a three-story 58-bed facility at the location where Nu Design furniture now stands at 472-476 Broadway.

When Ting and his partners began their presentation the direction of the meeting changed, as talk of a health and wellness day spa, holistic health care and retail space came up, none of which were in the original plans submitted to the board.

The members of the planning board raised the question as to whether the public hearing could continue, or if the plans needed to be resubmitted, and a new public hearing slated due to the change in project scope. The board also discussed whether the property was zoned for the larger project.

Planning board Chairperson Hildy Rosenberg made a motion that due to the history of similar issues with Ting's past proposals, the public hearing should be adjourned, the plans resubmitted and a new public hearing be scheduled.

Following a discussion Rosenberg's motion was passed and a new public hearing was scheduled for June 28 at 7 p.m.
