SULLIVAN COUNTY — Members of the Monticello police arrested Benny R. Savage, age 56, of Lake Luzerne, NY on Wednesday 8/8/18. Savage was charged with the felonies of Driving while intoxicated and Aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the 1st degree. He was also charged with misdemeanors for Aggravated driving while intoxicated and Operating out of ignition interlock restriction.

At 8:00 PM Wednesday, Monticello police stopped Savage for a vehicle and traffic violation while he was operating a 1979 Dodge Aspen motor vehicle in a westerly direction on Dillon Road in the Village of Monticello. Savage was subsequently arrested at the scene by Monticello officers for driving while intoxicated. A chemical test administered to Savage at the Monticello police station showed his blood alcohol level was .22%. Savage had been previously convicted of driving while intoxicated on 8/29/15 in the Village of Hudson Falls, NY Justice Court. Savage's driving privileges were also currently revoked in NYS for that previous D.W.I. conviction. He was also operating a vehicle at the time of his arrest without an interlock device.

Savage was arraigned before Acting Village of Monticello Justice Leo Glass and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail on $10,000.00 bail pending further court action.
