HARRIS — In honor of Veterans Day, Catskill Regional Medical Center (CRMC) recently celebrated and honored employees who work for the hospital and patients who are currently ill. CRMC unveiled the “Hallway of Heroes,” a permanent display of photos and military accomplishments of CRMC employees who are veterans.

“I'm proud to look back at all my experiences. I really attribute my success and who am I today because of the military,” said Dr. Christopher Roman, who is a board certificated physician in emergency management medicine at CRMC and had two combat tours of duty in 2009 and 2013 in the Army. “I think it is really special that the hospital does a ceremony and also that we a have place that honors the veterans and service members.”

Sam Berger, a certified nurse practitioner at Grover Hermann Hospital for 30 years, was in the army reserve from 1983 until 2016 and received numerous medals and awards for his work in the military.

“I want to thank my family... you [veterans] serve with the best people in the world, but your family sacrifices,” said Berger. “I am very proud of every veteran in this room.”

Greater Hudson Valley Health System (GHVHS) Director of Safety Security Emergency Management J. Miguel Rodrigues and CRMC CEO Jonathan Schiller presented Berger with a plaque for all his years of service and dedication in the military.
