DOWNSVILLE -- The Downsville Lady Eagles, which features athletes from Roscoe and Manor, hosted Windham on Tuesday afternoon, and earned their first win of the year behind good hitting and baserunning. Lindsey Rau threw a complete game for the Lady Eagles, allowing five runs and striking out 11 over seven innings.
Rau helped her cause, scoring three times and reaching base in all four at bats on offense. After giving up two runs in the first, Rau settled in and kept Windham's offense to a minimum for most of the game, only allowing three runs over the final six innings.
As the Eagles entered the home half of the 5th inning, they were down 4-2, but scored ten unanswered runs to give the team an 8-run lead. In the top of the 7th, Windham scored a run and had a few baserunners, but they were able to limit the damage and escape with their first win.

“We're finally hitting the ball,” Downsville coach Anne Miceli said. “At the start of the season we didn't have a pitcher, but Lindsey stepped up and filled that role for us. She improves with every game.
“We are a work in progress,” Miceli added. “And if we can keep getting stronger we can have a good year.”
