Shelley Weinstein
September 20, 1952 - January 7, 2014

Shelley DuMond Weinstein of Rock Hill passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. She was 61.
She was the daughter of the late Marian Oestrich DuMond, born on September 20, 1952 in Liberty, NY.
She was a caterer and partner, along with her husband, of Bernie’s Holiday Restaurant. Shelley's passions were cooking, entertaining, decorating and shopping. She loved being surrounded by her family and friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, and most recently grandmother.
She will be missed by everyone that knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Jay Weinstein; her children Jayson Weinstein and his wife Monica of Virginia, Cori Weinstein of Rock Hill; one grandson Parker Owen Weinstein; one brother Fred DuMond of Livingston Manor; aunts Esther Simpson and Debbie Johaneman both of Livingston Manor; cousin Gail Simpson also of Livingston Manor; mother and father-in-law Joy and Bernie Weinstein of Florida; sister-in-law Jil Madnick of Goshen, several nieces, nephews, cousins and countless close friends.
There will be a funeral service on Friday, January 10, 2014 at Herbert C. Bryant Funeral Home, 29 Pearl Street, Livingston Manor, NY 12758 at 11:00am. Interment will be held at a later date.

Charles A. Barnes
June 18, 1924 - December 18, 2013

Charles A. Barnes of Roscoe, NY and Ft. Pierce, FL passed into God’s care at Grace Rehabilitation Center, Vero Beach, FL on December 18, 2013. He was 89.
The son of the late Harry and Edith Sibley Barnes, he was born June 18, 1924 in the Town of Colchester, NY.
After attending high school, he attended the US Maritime Academy at Fort Schuyler, NY. He then served with the Merchant Marines during the latter part of WWII.
He married the former Jean DeVantier on April 24, 1948 and remained so for 65 years until Jean’s death in July 2013.
A retired assistant civil engineer for the NYCDEP, he was on site during the construction of the Cannonsville Reservoir, a link in New York City’s water system.
Music and golf were major interests in Charles’ life. From trombone in high school, he went on to play and modify a number of instruments through the years. Pre and post retirement, he took up golf, played at any opportunity and refurbished clubs for decades.
After retirement, Jean and Charles trekked to and from their New York and Florida homes for 29 years until their health failed.
Charles is survived by a daughter, Laura, with him prior to his death; a son, Michael (Roxanne); a sister-in-law, Dorothy DeVantier; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and five nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by his wife, Jean; a brother, Harry; a son-in-law, James Niforatos; and an infant son in 1950.
A memorial service and burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery, Roscoe, NY, in the Spring.
Memorial contributions in his name may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
