Sullivan West salutes track champs

LAKE HUNTINGTON — The Sullivan West Central School girls’ varsity indoor track team had a very successful 2008-2009 season.
The Lady Bulldogs won the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association (OCIAA) Division V title with a perfect 7-0 record. Then on Feb. 20 in Gillis Field House at the United States Military Academy at West Point, the Lady Bulldogs earned the Section IX Class B championship, which was the first girls’ indoor track sectional title in SW school history.
The Lady Bulldogs were recognized for their excellent performance at Thursday night’s regular meeting of the SW Board of Education.
Superintendent Dr. Ken Hilton, Board President Rich Sandler, Vice President Anna Niemann, members Ken Cohen, Rose Crotty, Angela Daley, Shaun Sensiba, Mary Scheutzow, Richard Tegnander and Noel Van Swol and student member Bridgette Metzinger welcomed Coach Joe Seidl and the Lady Bulldogs to the meeting held in the library of the SW High School in Lake Huntington.
“I hope you know how very proud we are of all of you,” Hilton said.
Hilton then asked each of the young ladies to introduce themselves to the board members and the audience and list the events in which they compete.
Those team members are Sara Alsdorf, Kendra Barker, Vanessa Brey, Rachel Deppa, Katey Dnistrian, Megan Eichele, Rianne Erlwein, Hannah Feinman, Megan Haberli, Morgan Hawkins, Ashley Mahoney, Katie Manzi, Brittney Milk, Danielle Myers, Liz Peters, Kasi Pilny, Nadine Ramdhany, Brittany Reddish, Stephany Robison, Amanda Rosenberger, Emma Seidl, Olivia Seidl, Alika Simon, Kristina Sumfleth and Jessica Zaccari.
Coach Seidl noted that the team also won OCIAA division titles the past two seasons, so the Lady Bulldogs’ overall three-year record is 21-0. He also pointed out that counting the 2008 spring outdoor track season, the Lady Bulldogs have now won 36 consecutive meets.
“This is an outstanding group of girls,” Seidl said. “They work very hard. They always give their best effort and I am proud of them.”
