Registration for the 27th Annual Delaware Youth Center 5k & 10k ‘River Run’ continues to grow, but entry fees will rise on 15th June!!

This year’s event will be held on Sunday, July 20, with the first wave hitting the tarmac at 8:15am.

The race starts on Callicoon’s Lower Main Street, before heading out on a traffic free River Road, adjacent to the scenic Delaware River, before returning into Callicoon to the finish.

Ed van der Schans, in his first year as Race Director, said “We are so excited to showcase this year’s race, entries have been very strong, so we are anticipating over 400 runners and walkers.  Our team of volunteers at the  Delaware Youth Center have already done a lot of work in preparation for the race, and I have to say the level of Community Support has been truly inspiring. Race day is expected to be very hectic, so I strongly advise people to sign up early; we are offering a discount if you register online before June 15”.

Once again, the local resident & business community have stepped up to support the Youth Center through Sponsorships, Raffle Ticket Sales and Race Registrations.

As well as the Race sponsors found on the DYC website and online media pages, the River Run Raffle has been supported with generous donations from (among others) Villa Roma, Bethal Woods, Dorney Park & Forestburgh Playhouse.

Raffle Tickets will be on sale until 20th July online, or in person at the Youth Center or at many of the numerous DYC events being held this summer, such as the Annual Tractor Parade.

This year, the Delaware Youth Center received additional support from the Sullivan Catskills Visitors Association (www.sullivancatskills.com) to help advertise the event to a broader audience.  Mr van der Schans noted “We have already seen many entries from outside the local County, as far as 2 hours drive away, so the assistance from the SCVA is definitely helping draw people to the area for race day.”

All funds raised from the race will go towards the upkeep of the facility, and for numerous events held throughout the year.

Last year, through the generous support of our community, local businesses & sponsors, the DYC raised $41,000, a considerable part of the yearly budget. Full details and the link to register can be found on the DYC website www.delawareyouthcenter.org/the-river-race.
