9-11 was mischaracterized

To the editor:

I  read this article some time ago and have been boiling ever since.

The “September 11th incident” is no mere “incident!

9/11/01 is the worst terrorist attack perpetrated on the United States since December 7, 1941 when the Japanese attacked us at Pearl Harbor.

Over 3000 innocent people just going to work or about their daily lives were murdered.

This includes no less than 343 valiant FDNY firefighters that were killed that day and hundreds of others along with thousands more people that were exposed to the carcinogens released into the atmosphere when the 2 tallest buildings in New York City were brought to the ground.

Furthermore, the lifestyle of Americans was forever changed with the implementation of the TSA procedures at airports, banking regulations implemented to impede monetary transfers to terrorist organizations and multiple other security procedures and regulations all designed to protect us.

But at the same time, the implementation of these new policies and procedures has resulted in the loss of liberties and freedoms previously taken for granted prior to 9/11.

So to merely refer to 9/11  as an incident is just as short-sighted and insensitive …

We readers deserve better!
