A public drama queen

To the editor:

Thank you to all the people writing in to let everyone know about our Sullivan County Chairman and special thanks to the Concerned Citizens for their ad to call your County Legislators regarding Doherty not being fit to be returned to his seat.

I was shocked when I started to read Part 1 Counterpoint that said “A View from a Reader.”

Really? A Reader? I think the title for that first one should have been “Chairman Whines About Being Publicly Ridiculed and Scorned”.

The nerve, to take up this space to try to explain why he didn’t pay his taxes.

I’ve lived here 53 years and the only time I was late with my tax payments was when I had to go to school in the city to become a Respiratory Therapist and only made enough money to eat and put gas in my car.

The nerve, to say his objective was an opportunity to be the savior of our county by exposing our high taxes. I really wanted to barf. Is there anyone who doesn’t know about Liberty’s taxes?

My husband had to sell a house in Liberty because we couldn’t afford the taxes, even when it was rented. You wanna fix it? Who’s stopping you?

I have never seen a local politician be such a public drama queen. We’ve had a lot of doozies, but this is too much. Why this paper gave him a soap box to explain himself and pat himself on the back is beyond my comprehension.

300 words, that’s what he’s entitled to – like the rest of us readers.

To those legislators who want to put him in again, voters should reward them for their opinions by taking them out of their seats too.

WE are allowed 300 words but if you are a 'somebody' you get as many as you like and they stopped the return-fire we used to have as well.

They returned to being a 'Liberal' newspaper again.

p.s. The other 8 legislators are included in 'the problems'.
