Aileen Claire Berberich was born on November 8, 1943 to Florence Zieres Berberich Boxberger and Albert C. Berberich in Callicoon, New York. She died on June 27, 2021 at Kaplan Family Hospice in Newburgh, NY.

Aileen taught Physical Education for 33 years. Her first nine years was in Elementary Physical Education, before transferring to the high school where she was a successful coach for the Girls Basketball, Volleyball and Softball Teams for 20 years winning 20 League Championships and 10 Section Championships. She was the Title 9 Coordinator for Troy School District. Aileen was inducted in the Troy High School Athletic Hall of Fame. She served as Athletic Director for the last three years of her career. Aileen was also the New York State Public High School Girls Basketball Chairperson for 20 years.

In her spare time, Aileen served on the Clifton Park Halfmoon Volunteer Ambulance Corp. as EMT, Crew Chief and Treasurer throughout her 22 years with them. The girls team always knew the practice sessions on Thursdays would be done by five o’clock as Aileen had to leave for her duty at six o’clock with the Ambulance Corp. She retired in 1999 and became a snow bird. She worked on the Corporate Board at Green Hills Estate in Zephyrhills, Florida and was elected Treasurer serving for 15 years.

She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Bruce (Barbara) Berberich, her stepbrother Robert Boxberger, and stepsister Ruth Ann Boxberger. Surviving are her stepbrothers John Boxberger, Thomas (Maryann) Boxberger, Carl (Adelia) Boxberger, her stepsister Carla Dworetsky, her nephew Wayne Berberich, nieces Melissa (Emerson) Trask, and Susan (John) Skinner, along with 8 great nieces and nephews and 10 cousins.

Friends may call on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 from 4 to 8 PM at Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, Jeffersonville, NY. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Youngsville Reformed Church, RT 52, Youngsville, NY. Interment will follow in the Greenhill Cemetery, Youngsville, NY.
