Albert W. Hauser (Buzzy), of Callicoon Center, NY, the son of the late Albert H. and Frances (Edwards) Hauser, died August 5, 2024, at the home of his son, Dane, and daughter-in-law, Tilly Hauser.

As a registered nurse for over 30 years, Al was known for his gentle and competent bedside manner, and caring concern for his patients, a gift which he shared willingly with his family and friends throughout his life. His career lead him from Loomis Hospital to Middletown Psychiatric Center, and finally to the Sullivan County Infirmary, where he retired as Director of Nurses in 1989.

Al was an Elder in the former St. Paul’s Reformed Church in Callicoon Center, and a member of the Catskill Region Antique Automobile Club.  He loved his ’32 Buick, and then his ’62 Studebaker convertible. He was an accomplished dancer. He and his wife, Elva, were known for their graceful ballroom dancing, always admired at Firemen’s dances and other happy events. They were also members of the Happy Footers Square Dance Club.

He is predeceased by his wife of 57 years, the former Elva Boyd Hauser, his parents, and his great-granddaughter, Emma Rose.  He is survived by his children Donna Ihlefeldt, Dane (Tilly) Hauser, his sisters Audrey McCullough and Carla Hahn; his grandchildren Adam Hauser, Austin (Amy) Ihlefeldt, Tiffany Hauser, and Elyssa (Scott) Olsen; as well as great-grandchildren Olivia and Dylan Olsen and Alaena Ihlefeldt.

At his request, the family will celebrate his life privately.  Dignified cremation will be provided by Harris Crematorium, LLC and burial of his cremains will be in the Callicoon Center Cemetery at the family’s discretion.

Memorial contributions in memory of Al may be made to the Callicoon Center Fire Department, or to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties.
