There’s a new chair of the Sullivan County Democratic Committee and her name is Anne Hart. She received a standing ovation upon being nominated for the position, which has a two-year term.
On Thursday night, the committee gathered at the Jeffersonville Bake Shop for their annual reorganizational meeting.

Hart had previously served as the committee’s secretary.

“I’m very grateful to my committee. They’re really a terrific bunch of people who care a lot about issues locally, nationally, and globally,” Hart told the Democrat. “I look forward to working with them to really further our presence in the county and to help further really good government and good representation from the town level, all the way up to the White House.”

Hart replaces Town of Fallsburg Supervisor Steve Vegliante who chose not to run again for committee chair. Vegliante, who nominated Hart for the office, offered her high praise.

“The successes of this committee are never one person,” said Vegliante. “There’s always a lot of people working together, but most of the time those successes happen, Anne has made sure all those people work together. She’s been in the center of every good thing that’s happened in this committee. She is one of the most dedicated and organized people I’ve ever had the privilege of working with.”

In addition to Hart being elected chair of the committee, Bill James was re-elected associate chair, Al Dumas was re-elected vice chair, Samara Ferris was re-elected treasurer and Deanna Rajsz was elected secretary.
