Annual FCSD Thanksgiving Food Drive a big success

Posted

FALLSBURG — On November 21 members of the FCSD Junior/Senior High School Student Government Association (SGA) met in the school cafeteria to distribute several boxes filled with non-perishable food items and frozen turkeys collected over the previous three weeks by the SGA in both buildings of the district. This annual event has been a long-standing tradition, only interrupted for two years during the Covid pandemic in 2019 and 2020.

As has been the case for the most recent food collection, pick up trucks were loaded to bring the bounty to Hurleyville’s Bread for Life Food Pantry at the United Methodist Church and the Food Pantry of St. Andrew’s Episcopal  Church in South Fallsburg. These food pantries are always grateful and eagerly provide bags of Thanksgiving dinner items to dozens of families that they serve throughout the year.

Thanks go out to the school staff and families that support this wonderful program and provide the food and to the students that gather it, organize it, and get it to the families to enjoy. For the past several years, the SGA faculty advisors have been Ms. Elisa Baum in the JSHS and Mr. Peter Dworetsky in Benjamin Cosor Elementary School.
