To the editor:

I received your letter regarding your introduction of S3690 to prohibit requiring a permit to sing the National Anthem or recite the Pledge of Allegiance in public.

I don’t think it’s a sin to be patriotic today. As a Navy veteran I salute my fellow patriotic Americans who gave their lives to keep this Republic free.

That being said, might I suggest a better issue that deserves your attention as representative of the 42nd district?

I am particularly concerned about the local and national politicians that are working to keep the false hope alive, that the 2020 election was rigged.

This claim has perilous implications for the country and the public faith in how they select their leaders. As a fairly elected New York State Senator, I need not point out this includes you as well.

Don’t allow the National Anthem, Pledge of Allegiance, or Old Glory to be hijacked as a fetish to the detriment of American Democracy. Let’s celebrate the 4th of July for the hope and freedom of all Americans.
