Baby formula issue

Posted

Kept hearing reports recently about the baby formula shortage and in talking with a relative who recently had a baby I was surprised to hear her tell me that she could not get her baby formula.

Then of course it doesn’t matter what the subject is.... this whole issue of the baby formula shortage immediately gets to become a political issue.

According to the New York Post editorial board, Rep. Elise Stefanik, R. NY “was quick to raise alarm about the baby formula shortage after Abbott shut down a plant in February.”

The Post editorial board reported, “President Joe Biden says only open-mind leaders could have foreseen the baby formula shortage.”

According to the Post, “the crisis now has 43 percent of formulas out of stock with no clear timeline to restore supply.”

The rumors along with counter charges are flying everywhere on this issue.

U.S. Rep. Kat Cammack, R-Florida, divulged, “that the U.S. Border Patrol agents sent photos of pallets loaded with infant formula that are stacked for border-crossing immigrants, including mothers with children, who are apprehended by the federal agency.”

The New York Times reported recently on the troubles Texas parents are having finding the Baby Formula.

The New York Times reported that New York Gov. Hochul has said, “we are in close coordination with our federal partners and New York will continue to do everything possible to support New York families in need of formula for their infants.”

According to CBS News on May 17 said that “House Democrats introduced a bill that would give $28 million to the Food and Drug Administration to address the baby formula shortage crisis.”

Republicans quickly spoke out and made it clear they plan to oppose the bill because, “this bill is yet another case of creating the appearance of responding without actually doing anything.”

The Associated Press added that, “supply chain issues,"have compounded this matter.”

Our take on this is to keep politics out of this issue so that parents can be assured of getting this needed baby formula.
