I am not sure if there is such a thing as reincarnation. The people I know who do believe in it are quite sure they were once a queen or a princess, a ruler of a vast empire or a famous performer or philosopher.

I've never heard one of them say that they thought they may have scrubbed floors or worked in a public rest room, or some other menial job.

If indeed there is such a thing I think I may have been an African Aborigine. It makes sense because I love to spend most of my days outdoors. I seem to have a unique connection to black people.

I love to travel from place to place and I am always on the run.

And then there's the afterlife. I believe in Heaven but not Hell. My God is a more forgiving being.

My friend Luis who died at 95 was quite sure there was no afterlife.

When I sent his family a sympathy card I wrote a note on it saying “Luis is now most pleasantly surprised because he found himself in a place called Heaven.”

When my sister-in-law was dying of lung cancer, she knew she was going to Heaven but she had one worry. She was afraid she would be bored there. I thought that was so funny. And how could she think that when there were so many comedians there, some of whom she had known personally.

Since then I have found that my friend Yvonne has the same concern.

I have sat at the bedsides of many friends and family members who knew they were dying. They were believers but confided to me that they were scared.

Did they start to question their faith or was it the fear of the unknown?

I think we are meant to have doubts about Heaven; otherwise wouldn't we be anxious to get there?

We are meant to live and enjoy this life first and even learn some things from our suffering to be used somehow in the afterlife.

For those of you who are not sure about all of this, after I die, I will try to let you know.
