Please excuse my not mentioning the passing of Harold Saltzman in this Bethel column or extending sympathy to the Stackhouse family earlier. We extend condolences to the family of Evelyn Haas and to Anthony Fracasse's family. Our sympathy also goes out to the friends and family of Corinne Briggs. Sullivan County will miss her, as she was always the activist, looked to make the area a better place to live, was a role model and raised a solid family.

COVID-19. We are still in this together and if we follow advice, maybe we'll shorten the duration, have less consequence. We monitor the news and each day it's sobering. Please be smart to remain healthy and consider the lives of others. Communicate with friends and family, check on your neighbors, and pretend it's a hurricane, but you have utilities.

We are all appreciative and thankful to those who sacrifice so much to help us sustain a degree of normalcy, health and sanity. It's been wonderful to see the effort and then the many ways people and organizations show their respect in return.

Passover ends Thursday evening.

On a personal note, considering the circumstances, our extended family linked into a Zoom Passover gathering, which was very pleasant. Then, days later, used Zoom for our grandchild's 5th ‘family birthday party' celebration with a fabulous rendition of “Happy Birthday”. Having washed our hands 25 times daily in the weeks before, we actually had plenty of practice, certainly knew the words and sounded pretty good. Not the norm, but Greyson thought it was “cool”.
