Unfortunately, we had a hard lesson recently on White Lake. Knowledge of the waters you are in or boating and wearing a life vest can save your life!

Kudos to Bethel Fire Companies: White Lake, Kauneonga, MobileMedic, Hatzolah, police and volunteers for their efforts in the water emergency on August 28. Special thanks are extended to Andrew Liff for his skill and immediate response. As of this writing, one person is in critical condition and there were two fatalities. On the same day there was a fatal drowning on the Delaware River.

Tuesday, the 6th, was Back to School Day for area districts. Set the alarms, get the kids out the door and be kind to bus drivers and teachers. Be patient and safe on bus routes and roads. This year feels like a normal start of classes.

The Bethel Lakeside Music finale was held Thursday, the 8th, at the KL Community Gazebo Park with a Tribute to First Responders and local musicians: Nilko Andreas & LaMAR NYC entertained.

The Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce hosts a Friday Breakfast, sponsored by Catskill Veterinary Services this week, Sept. 9 at BHR, Bernie’s Holiday Restaurant at 7:30 a.m.
