Bethel Woods opens new escape room and venue tour

BETHEL – Did you know Bethel Woods Center for the Arts is opening up a brand new, Woodstock themed escape room as well as a behind-the-scenes and history tour?

New challenges and opportunities await guests with the newest installment at the Museum at Bethel Woods that teaches about  the history of the 1969 Woodstock music and art festival through a guided behind-the-scenes tour and an escape room that began on August 3.

In a guided tour, guests are shown a number of highlights within the Bethel Woods venue, including backstage dressing rooms and an art gallery titled ‘Gallery of Generations’ by Logan Hicks. Along the way, knowledgeable tour guides orate the history of the grounds through photographs and stories.

One of the many things that tour guide and Senior Museum Curator Dr. Neal Hitch focuses on throughout the tour is the on-going research that comes with working with historical grounds, and the continuously increasing collection of oral histories, stories and photographs from attendees at the original Woodstock.

A great deal of these histories are shared along the tour, giving guests a greater insight to the vastness of the attempt to collect pieces of the more than 400,000 individual stories that happened there just over 50 years ago.

After the tour, guests are invited to try their hand at the new, Woodstock-themed escape room as the newest event at the Museum at Bethel Woods, hosted by Landscape Preservation Fellow, Eleanor Hein.

The escape room leans into the history of the 1969 Woodstock music and art festival through the dynamic and interactive storytelling medium. Guests will have a timer of 30 minutes to fully complete the sequence of puzzles and brain teasers.

Tickets for the tour and escape room went on sale, August 2 and will be available for purchase on the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts website at www.bethelwoodscenter.org/events/calendar.

Tours will be available on Wednesdays and continue to run through September. They start at 4 p.m. and end at roughly 5:45. Groups will be limited to seven guests. Adult tickets are $25, students with ID are $15, and children 12 and under are free.
