Betty M. Ehrich passed away peacefully on September 2, 2021, at Lafayette Center, Franconia, NH.

Betty was born on April 9, 1925, in Hankins, NY, the daughter of the late Ralph F. and Cynthia A. (Earle) Anderson. Betty was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Wendt in 1964, her son-in-law, Craig Behrend in 1985, her first husband, Ira D. Ray, in 1988, her great-granddaughter, Ashleigh Husson in 1997, her son-in-law Carl Boudreau, Jr. in 1998, her first son, Stephen I. Ray, in 2001, and her second husband, Sherman Ehrich, in 2012.

Surviving family members include her children, Brenda Kimball and her husband, Steve of Littleton, NH; Lana Gwyn and her husband, Tom of Conway, SC; Robin Martin and her husband, Kevin of Londonderry, NH; Betty Jean Garneau and her husband, James of Bethlehem, NH; Lori-Anne Murphy and her husband, Daniel of Bethlehem, NH; Dawn Haynes and her husband, Larry of Weare, NH; Jonathan Ray and his wife, Kim of Odessa, FL; as well as her daughter-in-law Kim Ray of New Braunfels, TX, 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty was well known in the community for her skill in the kitchen and for her love of children and animals. She will be remembered fondly by countless students who passed through Lakeway Elementary where she worked and managed the kitchen for many years. After retiring, she returned to Lakeway as a volunteer aide in Mrs. Aldrich’s kindergarten classroom. She was a surrogate grandmother to many. Betty was a long-time member of the Ellenville (NY) Methodist Church and most recently attended First United Methodist Church in Littleton, NH where she had been a long-time member. Her faith sustained her through heartbreaking losses. She was dedicated to the church and continued to bake pies for the chowder luncheons even after she turned 90.

A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Littleton, NH on October 9 at 10:30 am. Burial will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery, Littleton, NH and Callicoon Cemetery, Callicoon, NY.

Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 18 Main Street, Littleton, NH 03561 or Ellenville United Methodist Church, PO Box 591, Ellenville, NY 12428.
