Beverley Sacks, locally-famous Cleo The Clown of White Lake, NY passed away peacefully on Friday, November 20, 2020 at the Skilled Nursing Unit at Catskill Regional Medical Center. She was 93. The daughter of the late John and Edith Brown Newman, Beverley was born on October 24, 1927.

Born in Bronx, NY, Beverley attended Hunter College, and relocated to Pittsburgh, PA. She worked as a legal secretary and became a children's clown entertainer in the late 1950's. In her 40's, she went back to college and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1975 with a degree in Early Childhood Education. Beverley first came to love White Lake as a child, when her grandfather spent the summers in the area. In 1977, she moved to White Lake, NY to take care of her mother and continued entertaining as Cleo the Clown. She performed at many local events, children's parties, and parades into her 80's.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law; Richard and Marcia Sacks, grandchildren; Michael (Charlotte) and David (Erika) and her great-grandchildren; Rachel, Joshua, Sarah, and Avery.

A graveside service will take place on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at 11:00am, the Temple Beth El Synagogue Cemetery, Route 17B in Bethel. Social distancing guidelines will be in place, please wear a mask.
