Biden wants to ban Semi-Auto firearms!

Posted

Even after President Joe Biden’s party lost control of the House of Representatives, where anti-gun bills were given a free pass under former speaker Nancy Pelosi, Biden is still determined to push his gun-ban on semi-automatic firearms for Congress to approve.

In November of 2022, Biden lashed out at the majority of American gun owners by claiming there was something “sick” about the firearms Americans overwhelmingly choose to defend themselves and their families. The president said, “The idea we will allow semi-automatic weapons to be purchased is sick. It has no social redeeming value.”

Biden went on stating his intent to enact a ban on commonly owned semi-automatic firearms, like the AR-15, that is one of the most popular rifles in America, that he and other gun- controlled supporters call “assault weapons.”

A federal assault weapons ban has been tried once before from 1994 to 2004. The ban also prohibited standard capacity magazines with a capacity greater than 10 rounds.

The main reason why a so-called “assault weapons” ban cannot have a meaningful impact of violent crime is that the targeted firearms, or any other long guns (rifles & shotguns), are rarely used to commit violent crimes.

In 2004 the Department of Justice - Funded Study concluded, “At best, the assault weapons ban can have only a limited effect on total gun murders, because the banned weapons and magazines were never involved in more than a modest fraction of all gun murders.”

This was presented to Congress, with overwhelming evidence of the ban’s inefficiency, the United States Congress chose not to renew the gun-controlled assault weapons ban.

My father used a Remington .308 semi-automatic rifle for many a year to hunt deer, and he loved it, especially if he needed a quick second shot. A ban on all semi-auto rifles and shotguns would affect millions of gun owners.
