Body found in Glen Spey under investigation

GLEN SPEY – The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating an incident in which a body was found on Mapes Road in the Town of Lumberland.
The deceased has been identified as Richard Meyerer, 45, of Liberty, who was also known as Alan Miller.
According to the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, his body was discovered in a ditch off a back road at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 9 by two joggers who were on their honeymoon and were staying in an Airbnb nearby. They called 911.
Sullivan County Coroner Alan Kesten pronounced Meyerer dead at the scene. An autopsy was performed and the cause of death was unknown as of press time.
According to Undersheriff Eric Chaboty there were no obvious signs of trauma. The body had been there for a few hours.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the New York State Police Forensic Investigation Unit.
