NEWBURGH ––Mount Saint Mary College was bustling this weekend with back-to-back Sectional softball games. The Tri-Valley Bears (7-3) was the first of our Sullivan County teams to take the field in a Friday afternoon game against the Pine Plains Bombers (12-7).
Pine Plains Talia Durant racked in 16 SO’s and held the Bears to one single during the game as the Bears struggled to hit the ball into the field. In the third inning Jenna Carmody of the Bears managed a single hit and went on to steal second.
After attempting a third base steal, she [Carmody] was tagged out. The Bears continued to push forward, but the Bombers pitching at the plate proved to be too much. The Bears brought home the Division V Championship earlier this month after defeating Burke for the title.
