ROSCOE – Fred Ahart’s reach extended to a multitude of different schools around Sullivan County and all of Section IX. From former students becoming coaches, to assistant coaches that got their start under Fred before moving on to other schools, there is a long list of those ready and willing to speak about Fred’s impact and legacy.

Thank you from the foundation

Before the final game tipped off, Maryanne Clancy addressed the crowd, thanking everyone that made the event possible on behalf of The Coach Fred Ahart Foundation.

She said, “First, we would like to thank all the coaches, athletes and their communities for coming out this weekend and supporting The Coach Fred Ahart Foundation. Athletes, thank you for displaying great sportsmanship. Thank you to the RCS Class of 2024 for donating your concession stand earnings from this weekend. Coaches and Mr. Semo, thank you for your kind words, lessons and moments you shared, may dad’s lessons continue for generations to come.”

She continued, “Thank you Mr. Chris Russo and Mr. RobGravelle for your vision to benefit the foundation in the gym named after him. Your connection to Coach has always been special to our family, community and beyond. We would also like to thank Mr. Adam Larson for spending countless hours of your time to organize and construct an amazing schedule to honor our Coach.”

Maryanne concluded with a special recognition of Becky Ahart, her mother.

“She took the 51 year ride alongside Dad, as a coach for 30 years, a Section IX Chairperson, and scorekeeper. You continue to serve the community, and the students of RCS. Thank you, mom, for your continued dedication, love and support.”
