Brenda Elizabeth Monahan of Jeffersonville passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, October 4, 2022. The daughter of the late Harold and Freda Boustead. Brenda was born in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England on September 17, 1937. At the age of 18, she immigrated and made her way to Kenoza Lake via Canada. This is where she met the love of her life, Paul Monahan.

In 1984, she became a U.S. Citizen and was very proud of that accomplishment. She also loved gardening, birdwatching and volunteering in her community. She was President of the PTA and later President of the School Board at the Jeffersonville-Youngsville Central School. She was also a member of the Community Garden Club of Liberty for many years.

Brenda leaves behind daughters Cindy (Mark) Herbert and Teresa (Buddy) Weatherford, and son, Paul, whom she dedicated her life as his caretaker for over 30 years after a Traumatic Brain Injury. Her two grandsons, who she absolutely cherished, Brodey and Ashton and niece, Heather Riordan.

Brenda was a very loving, supportive and active mother until the very end. We were blessed to have her as our Mother and Grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was pre-deceased by her husband Paul J. Monahan and brother Trevor Boustead.

With keeping with our mother’s wishes, there will be no service. A gathering to honor her will be held on Sunday, October 9 from 1-4 p.m. at the residence of her dear friend, Barbara Yewchuk at 15 Jefferson Avenue, Jeffersonville, NY.

We want to thank so very much the quick response and kindness shown by the Jeffersonville Fire Department and the Jeffersonville Volunteer Ambulance Corps. If you would like to make a donation please consider them.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, Jeffersonville, NY 845-482-4280. For directions or to send condolences please visit stewartmurphyfh.com.
