Carmine Mattia, age 63, Jeffersonville NY passed away, November 28, 2019, at home surrounded by his loving children.

Carmine was born on January 20, 1956, in Calabritto, Italy to Giustino and Teresa Mattia. He came to America when he was 17 years old where he met and fell in love with Teresa Quartuccia which they married and had two children.

Carmine was a creative, hard-working, tell it how it is person with a big personality but also had a big admiration for his fellow person, his friends, family, his heritage and country.

Carmine had many professions such as a truck driver driving across the USA and Canada as well as a bus driver but his calling was always for carpentry where he worked as a carpenter in the NYC District Council of Carpenters Local 157 up until 2011.

He retired in Jeffersonville, NY where he met many loving friends, got to express his creativity through his skills in carpentry and welding, and got to ride around on his Harley Davidson while listening to Rock & Roll. He spent valuable time at his house in Jeffersonville during the summers with his grandson Aaden taking him horseback riding, teaching him a love for the outdoors, and spent many hours swimming in the pool. He took his grandson everywhere with him on his Harley. If you lived in the Catskills you probably saw him and Aaden enjoying themselves around town.

Carmine was a big fan of sports mainly football and soccer, where his favorite team was the Miami Dolphins because of his love for Dan Marino and, of course, also loved the National Italian Soccer Team. He spent his free time creating wonderful expressions of his mind and creativity with wood and metal being his tools. Traveling was a great desire of his which he got to experience many adventures in his life. He has crossed the USA and Canada many times while he was a truck driver and in his spare time with his motorcycle and Vespa. He was very proud of the fact that he held a driving record of over 2 million miles. His most recent trip was to Sturgis, S.D. on his Harley Davidson, something he always dreamed of doing and accomplished before his final days with us.

Carmine is survived by his children, Mario and Agnese Mattia, grandson Aaden K., brother Geraldo Mattia, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A celebration of life will be held at his home, 566 Hessinger and Lare road, Saturday, December 7th from 2-6 p.m. All are welcome to share stories, enjoy his beautiful creations, and remember the wonderful man that he was and will always live on in our hearts.
