Carolyn McGrath Hofsommer of Kenoza Lake, NY a former clerk in the Classified Advertising Department at the Sullivan County Democrat and longtime cafeteria worker at the former Delaware Valley Central School died on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at the Skilled Nursing Unit at Garnet Medical Center Harris, NY. She was 86.

The daughter of the late Arthur and Margaret Walsh Foster, she was born March 19, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY. She was predeceased by her first husband Henry A. McGrath in 1987.

Carolyn is survived by her husband Joseph Hofsommer at home, her children: Henry McGrath and his wife Susan of Lake Huntington, NY, Timothy McGrath and his wife Lorie of Monticello, NY, and Michael McGrath and his wife Diane of Hortonville, NY and by her grandchildren: Susan and Pete Norton of Hortonville, Henry McGrath of Hortonville, Christine and Russel Olsen of Livingston Manor, NY, Amanda and Andy Tiernan of Beach Lake, PA, Michael and Patty Viera of Sarasota, FL, Michele and Brad Shockley of Rockwell, NC, Christopher McGrath of Swan Lake, NY and Louis Takacs of Hortonville, and nine great grandchildren. Her sisters Arlene Nannery of Binghamton, NY and Diane and Gregory McClure of Pine Bush, NY and her brother-in-law Gerald Minckler of Long Eddy, NY and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Henry A. McGrath, she was predeceased by her sister Margaret Minckler, her brother Arthur Foster and her brother in-law Patrick Nannery.

Calling of friends was held on Thursday, October 8, 2020 from 6 to 8 PM at Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, Callicoon, NY. Social distancing guidelines were in force and facial coverings were required. Funeral services will be Friday, October 9 at 10:00 AM at the Funeral Home. Pastors Kathy and Rich Ienuso will officiate. Interment will follow at Callicoon Cemetery, Callicoon, NY.
