Cast your bread

“Cast your bread upon the waters for thou shall find it after many days,” Ecclesiastes Chapter 11 Verse1 is a marvelous piece of advice from Solomon who was known for his wisdom.

Today, Wednesday, the bread I cast upon the waters many years ago flooded back to me.

Pat, a friend of mine who had once quilted with us in Middletown, called to thank me for all the help I had given her in the past.

It is a custom of mine to copy patterns for anyone who wants them. I have also written a simple text on quilting which I copied for members who requested it.

Pat has become an excellent quilter and felt the need to reconnect and inform me of her success.

We had a great visit and, though she lives too far away to be with us, she still feels part of the group.

Though Corona has shut down our regular Monday meetings there is still strong feelings of fellowship among us and small get-togethers.

When bad things interrupt our lives it is good to be part and parcel of a loving fellowship.

During this time of uncertainty it is a blessing to have closer friends and to recognize their place in our lives.

None of us stand alone but whatever we have cast upon the waters will, in time, come back to us as Solomon, in his wisdom, foretold.

Stay strong, stay safe, be thankful for the blessings in your life and, above all, keep smiling.
