VERNON – The Catskill Claws completed their third event of the season on Sunday after heading up to the Tilden Hill Farm in Vernon, NY. Both the middle school team and the high school teams used the same course, which featured 120 feet of ascention per lap during the 3.5 mile/lap course.

Jackson Krause and Tyler Stevenson led the team in points during the event, with each earning 420 points for their 11th place finishes. Krause leads the team with 1224 points overall this season after three events, and he ranks in 9th place for the state series of the Sophomore boys class.

Nolan Brown has the second highest point total with 1156 points and is ranked 14th in the state for the JV boys category.

Stevenson had the fastest lap time on the team, finishing his final lap in 21:06 and a total time of 1:09:00, earning him an 11th place finish for the freshman boys division.

“This was a brand new venue for the league this year and nobody knew what to expect,” Team Director Keith Stephenson said. “There wasn’t a lot of ascending but there were plenty of twists and turns as well as wooden planks to negotiate.”

The complexity of the new course, combined with the weekend’s rain, made for an interesting event.

“The rain Saturday night and early Sunday morning made conditions more challenging, especially over the wooden planks.”

The next event for the Claws this season will be held in Cooperstown at Glimmerglass State Park on June 4.
