PARKSVILLE – Come out and celebrate winter with the Sullivan O&W Rail Trail Alliance on Saturday, February 22nd at 10:30 AM on the historic O&W Rail Trail in Parksville.

The SnO&W started in 2020 as a snowshoe fun run and walk and rotates locations each year to feature a different segment of the Sullivan O&W Rail Trail.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own snowshoes or similar gear if they have them. Limited snowshoes and microspikes will be available to rent, free of charge, on a first come, first served basis.

“The Sullivan O&W Rail Trail is a trail for everyone, and winter is a great time to experience the trail!”, said Heather Jacksy, Sullivan County Planning Director and member of the Alliance.

“February 22nd is a big day for Liberty. We are very proud that our Parksville segment of the Sullivan O&W Rail Trail is being featured at this year’s annual SnO&W event.

This stretch from Cabernet Franks to the Fox Mountain Trail Head parallels the pristine trout-loving waters of the Little Beaverkill offering users a unique and engaging trail experience,” said Town of Liberty Supervisor Frank DeMayo. “Additionally, we have the All Things Liberty Winter Festival event hosted by Liberty Central Schools happening between 10 AM and 2 PM in the middle and high school gymnasiums. This event will showcase local craft vendors and community organizations. Come out on February 22 and enjoy all Liberty has to offer!”

Participating fire departments in the Sullivan 180 Healthiest Fire Department Challenge will receive 3 points for attending with five or more active members.

The event will begin at the Parksville Rail Trailhead at 40 Main St, Parksville.

The location can also be found on Google Maps as “Parksville Rail Trailhead B.” Visit www.SullivanOandW.com/Events or visit the Sullivan O&W Rail Trail Alliance on Facebook for up-to-date event information.
