Christopher Matthew Rampe of Wurtsboro, a former co-owner of Danny’s Village Inn in Wurtsboro, died unexpectedly on Monday, November 21, 2022 in the Town of Cochecton.  He was 67.

The son of the late Lawrence Rampe and Eleanor Halloran Rampe, he was born September 6, 1955 in Monticello.

As a New Yorker through and through, he was proud of where he came from. He loved the natural beauty of Sullivan County, including hunting and fishing, and especially the first day of trout season. Local teams like the Yankees, Giants, Jets, and even Mets winning brought a smile to his face. At his best, he never appeared happier than when he was making others laugh. 

He is survived by a son: Lawrence C. Rampe of New York City; a daughter: Allison Rampe; a brother: Vincent Rampe of Wurtsboro; two sisters: Kathy Motl and her husband JT of Wurtsboro, and Eleanor Pannenbacker and her husband Roy of Manorville; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother: Lawrence Rampe Jr.

Visitation was held on Monday, November 28 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 29 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 180 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro with Fr. Peter Madori officiating.
