FALLSBURG — The Sullivan West Bulldogs visited the Fallsburg Comets for their opening Volleyball matches of the season. Both coaches and athletes were expecting a good, competitive match to start their seasons. Overall Fallsburg set the tempo with a strong start, playing well together as a team. It looks like the early season practice and preparation has paid off.
The Comets took the first set 25-17. In the second set, the Bulldogs battled back and jumped out to an early lead. They ultimately came up short as Fallsburg came storming back 25-21.
The story was similar for the third and final set as SW started the set playing well grabbing a lead. However, FB overall talent, depth, and team play proved to be too much as they took the final set 25-20.
Fallsburg proves to be a team to watch this upcoming Volleyball season led by coach Amy Johnson, and her squad. Some key performances by the Comets in this match included Seniors Jordan Wall-Carty S, Brianna Noller MB, and Maya Ballard L.
SW may have been swept away by Fallsburg; however, that does not mean they will not be a team to keep an eye on. Coach Helene Chappell had key contributors to the initial contest including Seniors Madeline Kask MH, and Sophie Wilkin OH. Junior Kearstin Knapp S also played an important role for the Bulldogs.
