Dale Richard Elliott, born on February 25, 1953, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Dale Elliott and Joyce Churchill, passed away December 5, 2024. He was a beloved partner, stepfather, grandfather, and friend who touched the lives of many with his passions, talents, and kind heart.
Dale’s early years were spent in Fort Wayne, where he developed a lifelong love for the arts, history, and animals. He was an artist at heart, known for his intricate fruit and ice carvings that showcased his creativity and skill. His passion for cooking was equally remarkable, and he worked as a chef for many years, sharing his culinary talents with those fortunate enough to experience his dishes.
A proud Vietnam War veteran, Dale served his country with honor. At the age of 16, he attended Woodstock, where his love for music and free-spirited lifestyle was born. Over the years, he became an avid reader of history books and had a keen interest in antiques. His collection of old ink bottles stood as a testament to his curiosity and dedication to preserving the past.
Dale’s generosity of spirit extended to his love for animals, and he was a true animal lover, always finding joy in their company. He will be remembered for his many interests and for his ability to connect with others through his passions.
Dale is survived by his significant other, Brenda Mathsen; his stepchildren, Jeremy Mathsen and his wife Collette, Brittany, and her fiancé Shane Rios; and his cherished grandchildren, Vincenzo Huffman, Ronin Rios, Kaleia, Hayden, and Lianna Mathsen, and Jersey Rios. He was predeceased by his parents and his 8-year-old brother, Jim Elliott.
A memorial service to honor Dale’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on February 22, 2025, at Grahamsville United Methodist Church Hall.
