Delaware Valley Farm and Garden under new ownership

The Delaware Valley Farm and Garden, located at 30 Viaduct Road in the hamlet of Callicoon, changed hands on January 31, with new co-owners Kaelin and Kyle Salvatore seeking to provide the same quality products and neighborly service as the store enters into its newest chapter.

The Salvatore’s have both been a part of the store’s operations in the past. Kyle, 35, got his start working at the hardware store before graduating high school in 2004 and returned once again in 2017 after studying motorcycle mechanics in Orlando, Florida.

Kaelin, 32, graduated from Honesdale High School in 2007 and attended Kutztown University before starting her job at Delaware Valley Farm and Garden in 2016.

Since then, the Salvatore’s have pushed forward alongside the previous owners for quality products and neighborly service.

“We’ve been working towards this transition for several years,” Kaelin said.

Now, they’re dedication to their work has set them up to not only be new owners, but to be leaders within their departments and conductors of dedicated customer service, as well.

Going from longtime employees to owners, one large difference that the couple has experienced is that the work is never truly done, even when the work day ends.

“The biggest change is that we used to clock in and out, and our attorney said ‘oh, you’re never going to clock out again.’ Your brain doesn’t shut off anymore. Now when you leave, you’re still on and still working whether you’re here or at home,” Kaelin said.

Since picking up the reins from the previous owners, Richard and Disa Wulff, the Salvatore's have been working so that the store’s quality products and neighborly service remain true for their customers.

“There’s so much of the community behind this place,” the Salvatores said, noting their desire to upkeep the atmosphere that the community is familiar with.

The Salvatore’s have three young children, two of whom attend Damascus Elementary School across the river in Pennsylvania, and one still in day-care.

The Salvatore’s and the staff at the Delaware Valley Farm and Garden are ready to assist customers with all of . their gardening and hardware needs at their store front, located at 30 Viaduct Road in the hamlet of Callicoon.
